In June 2009, a tragic incident occurred involving a 16-year-old resident of Beirut. Reports suggest that the incident took place near the Manara Promenade, located across from the American University. The young individual attempted to dive into the water but tragically collided with the concrete before reaching it.
A video of the diving accident has recently emerged online, showing the successful jump of the boy's sibling from the 40-foot-tall Promenade building. The siblings had made several jumps previously without any issues, but this time, tragedy struck as the young individual slipped and collided with the concrete below.

The subsequent scene in the video depicts the child being rushed to an emergency room at an American University Hospital. The doctors desperately tried to stabilize the boy's injuries and preserve his airway. Despite their efforts, the young boy remained in critical condition for two days before succumbing to his injuries.
