 A mother and her 14-year-old son have been charged after authorities alleged that she instructed her son to shoot a man at a hot dog stand in Chicago.


Carlisha Hood, who possesses a valid Firearm Owner's ID and is a concealed carry holder, is now facing a felony count of murder and another count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Meanwhile, her 14-year-old son is facing a felony count of murder.

The incident occurred on June 18 at Maxwell Street Express on South Halsted Street, just after 11 p.m. According to police, Hood went inside the restaurant to get food while her son waited in the car outside.

While Hood was in the restaurant, an argument broke out between her and a 32-year-old man. Court documents reveal that Hood allegedly texted her son from inside the store, signaling him to intervene. Subsequently, her son entered the restaurant during the altercation.

Authorities claim that the argument quickly turned physical when the man repeatedly punched Hood in the head. According to the documents, Hood's son then brandished a firearm and shot the man in the back.

A witness present at the scene was reported to be laughing and encouraging the incident, as per the court documents.

Following the shooting, the man fled the restaurant, and the 14-year-old allegedly pursued him, firing additional shots. The man sustained two more gunshot wounds to the back and was pronounced dead shortly after.


The court documents state that Hood attempted to take the gun from her son, but he pushed her away. They subsequently fled the scene in their vehicle.


On Wednesday, both Hood and her son turned themselves in and were placed under arrest. Notably, they do not have any reported criminal background. They were taken into custody and charged accordingly, according to the authorities.
